Cloud Security
Definition
Cloud security consists of a set of policies, controls, procedures and technologies that work together to protect cloud-based systems, data, and infrastructure. These security measures are configured to protect cloud data, support regulatory compliance and protect customers' privacy as well as setting authentication rules for individual users and devices.
Why It Matters
As more data and critical applications move to the cloud, securing that environment becomes paramount. Cloud security is a complex domain that requires a different approach than traditional on-premises security.

A comprehensive cloud security strategy would include using IAM to control access, encrypting data at rest and in transit, configuring network firewalls (Security Groups), and using tools to monitor for threats and misconfigurations.
